Look at the generative ai comparison, there is a much larger increase in performance. Games are not indicative of AI computing performance or other tasks people who'd buy this card would want it for. DLSS 4 and Reflex 2 are just bonuses, I'm just happy that the GAMER
cards are not overpriced, especially considering that AMD's offerings in the GPU market seem to be lackluster this time around.

Ppl who work high tech jobs need intense graphical power for ai or machine learning and 3d/video editing. The VRAM of the xx90 series cards are always the strongest, coupled with their high VRAM, this makes them attractive to rich mofos who use their computers for work. Of course, some people buy them to game on, but most don't. The main demographic for those kinds of cards are people involved in businesses of the aforementioned jobs.
As for DLSS 4.0, which is a more evolved version of frame generation, it just gives more frames or something like that, yeah. People seethe about frame generation, but it works well, IMO. Wukong is unplayable on my laptop without frame generation, so I'm thankful for it.
I know he is young, just kidding around. GTX 970 brvtally rapes the gtx 1050 though. I built my first pc for under $400 like 3 or 4 years ago. I had an rx 580 I plopped in there for $100. Used market is pretty solid, just check facebook marketplace if you ever wanted to upgrade for cheap. Ebay kinda sucks now unless you're buying niche.

Well, I actually bought this one with my own money (well, that I saved up for a long time with money that I gained from Christmas and birthday cards, but that still counts as my money if it was all graciously gifted to me, I'd say).

If you confused "boosted 4090" as an actual 4090, then you are just mistaken. If you looked at the table I posted, the 5080 is above the 4090 in terms of performance, the msrp of the 5080 is $999. That's what I meant when I said "boosted 4090." It's like if the 4090ti existed and it lost some of its VRAM, that for $999 would be great. Hopefully DLSS 4 takes off with game devs and we can play 1440p/4k high refresh rate on max settings without much ghosting or artifacts.

ASA, for example, NEEDS frame generation to be playable (it has forced fsr3 frame gen), I hope DLSS 4 can make this game run 144+ on high-extreme settings, at least in 1440p. It's a good looking game.

You're right, but sometimes we want more than just enough. 144hz, for example, is so much more fluid and enjoyable than 60hz. And research is le good or whatever because it takes a couple minutes and helps me make financially informed decisions when it comes to purchasing computer components in terms of perf$/dollar, etc.
