O My Fauci CES 2025 Nvidia GPUs...

Inflation + manufacturing cost + Nvidia monopoly and marketing (basically the only people who make high end gpus) + consumer demand = high price tag

How big of a jump is 60hz to 144hz compared to 30hz to 60?
Can't answer this, I haven't seen what 30hz looks like in a long time apart from media. High refresh rate is worth it even if you're not a gamer, everything is so much more fluid and it's a lot easier on your eyes. It will help productivity by allowing you to use the computer for longer or let you enjoy a more smooth gaming experience if that's what you want. Not even that expensive nowadays.

I have an old laptop so no 144hz for me until next year.

The 5090 is roughly 30% better than the 4090 according to released benchmarks. A moderate improvement at face value, but the 4090 was already beastly. This should result in an impressive gain in performance. Now the 5080 appears to perform similarly to the 4090 in benchmark, albeit, 5 - 15 frames worse depending on the game. A $999 MSRP for the FE coupled with DLSS 4 technology makes this card decent value in my book. A lack of advancement in chip manufacturing is the obstacle for any significant future performance boost, I think that the generation succeeding the 5000 series will truly be something special.

That aside, I've purchased newer components in preparation for the launch of the 5000 series. Prior to these recent years, I had never thought of purchasing a Ryzen processor, yet here I am. Intel's recent offerings are so lackluster for the dollar there's simply no point in even looking their way.

I7-11700F and 16gb DDR4 3000MT/s -> Ryzen 7 7800x3d and 32 GB DDR5 6000MT/s

More than the upgrade in processing power, I believe I'll be much happier with the improvement in RAM quantity, speed, and quality. AI programs like NVIDIA Broadcast, recording software like OBS Studio, and games just eat up so much memory, I hardly had any left to spare. I'll be installing those parts later today once I purchase a better power supply. Then later this month, I hope I'll be able to purchase an RTX 5080. If that's not an option, I may be desperate enough to shill two grand for that 5090 if the opportunity arises.

Perfect specs to run the new DOOM at minimum requirements.

It's not a need, it's just a want for those who are willing to spend enough money to get it. High refresh rate gaming paired with great graphics makes the experience more enjoyable, this is a given. You can be content and game on a 1080 all you want, there's nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is you bringing the soul into a conversation about computer components. That is gay as fuck, it's not that deep, lil bro...
>WHY IS THE NEWEST TECH SO EXPENSIVE UGH IM LEAKKKINNGGGGG

Complete fail, tried to buy a 5080 FE this morning from best buy. I was in queue for about a minute and then it kicked me out telling me the item sold out. I hate Nvidia marketing...
