The 5090 is roughly 30% better than the 4090 according to released benchmarks. A moderate improvement at face value, but the 4090 was already beastly. This should result in an impressive gain in performance. Now the 5080 appears to perform similarly to the 4090 in benchmark, albeit, 5 - 15 frames worse depending on the game. A $999 MSRP for the FE coupled with DLSS 4 technology makes this card decent value in my book. A lack of advancement in chip manufacturing is the obstacle for any significant future performance boost, I think that the generation succeeding the 5000 series will truly be something special.
That aside, I've purchased newer components in preparation for the launch of the 5000 series. Prior to these recent years, I had never thought of purchasing a Ryzen processor, yet here I am. Intel's recent offerings are so lackluster for the dollar there's simply no point in even looking their way.

More than the upgrade in processing power, I believe I'll be much happier with the improvement in RAM quantity, speed, and quality. AI programs like NVIDIA Broadcast, recording software like OBS Studio, and games just eat up so much memory, I hardly had any left to spare. I'll be installing those parts later today once I purchase a better power supply. Then later this month, I hope I'll be able to purchase an RTX 5080. If that's not an option, I may be desperate enough to shill two grand for that 5090 if the opportunity arises.
