PC gaming

Potentially, depending on your budget and preference (used, new). The graphics card market is absolutely fucked, but a lot of people are offloading their old hardware to upgrade on the used market. Also, it depends on where you are. In the US, Trump's tarriffs might be hitting. I'm not educated enough to know, but regardless of whether or not they're actually here, some pc part manufacturers have raised prices blaming the tariffs. For your $800 build, I'd look around the used market. If you want to buy new, I'd suggest upping your budget by a couple hundred if you don't want to wait and making the 9070/9070xt your graphics card. It'll perform similarly to a 7900xtx/RTX 4080, but with improved frame generation. Otherwise, NVIDIA's 5060 and AMD's 9060 series of cards will be here Q2 2025, with NVIDIA's cards likely coming sooner. Those cards will probably cost around 300-400.
whats the point of constantly upgrading to the newest gen if you're gonna just spend more time wageslaving for pc parts rather than actually playing

I’ll wait for my tax refund to come first.

Doom eternal is when it started falling off. Gameplay was good but the story they started going for was just pure dogwater. Doom story was at its best when it was just an angry guy killing demons, all this mumbojumbo about eternals and deitys and whatever is just some fucking commie gobbledygook
True, though you could just skip all the cutscenes.

9070xt at bestbuy (xfx models so far)

I wanted the Nitro+ model, but if that is not available I might try to pick up one of these cards at MSRP. I'm glad at least some models will be sold at the MSRP, even if it may only be temporarily. We should see more cards from different AIBs come in before they go live today 9am EST on retailers like microcenter, bestbuy, and newegg.

Failed to buy 9070xt, everything out of stock just like NVIDIA online. Might've attempted to buy it over 30 times online today. Also, I purchased a 9070xt Red Devil from newegg for an already high $840 after tax. That order got cancelled by newegg due to a lack of stock. The card was only really available at Microcenter, where cards were readily available at MSRP up until around 1pm at mine. It was two hours away and I had university classes, damn. Maybe I should've skipped a day, we did nothing. Now they'll be marked up $100-$300 and be available in a couple weeks, fuck this market. :cage:
