Rant Are prayer beads normal?

Christian apostolic denominations have their own versions of them called rosaries, prayer ropes and other stuff. But what I don't like about prayer beads is that all religions have them and that sounds embarrassing.
Prayer ropes only appeared in 3rd century, as I heard a saint invented them for illiterate monks.
