I'd try to find a better city. I don't have skin in the game but it is well known that the most native areas don't have narcos since the natives don't smoke that garbage. At least in Brazil you can get a way better experience if you stick to the white states, and some brown cities are just hellholes like the one Paco is trying to explain here. I've also heard in Mexico it's the small towns that are way more dangerous.

its mainly because of the same reason iraqi and syrian villages were (and still are) the most susceptible to islamic radicalism
the big cities have some form of security because they don't want their population diminishing more than they already do but they don't care about the small towns so they just become economic slaves to the cartels and basically become so to say 'posts', any oppositor of their narcoregime is easier to hunt down (not to say city ones don't get hunted and killed too)

the waste collection servers can be absent for months
i remember one time it was such a gigantic reeking pile of trash it had to be burned to not make everyone's house smell like pungent shit
either it was that or protestors burning it on purpose

Not gonna lie I kinda miss when power would go out every few months and we'd go to the apartment hallway to linger around the proximity lights there. Then phones appeared.

I remember I was 5 and on a restaurant and the power went out, I suddenly saw at least 10 flashlights and I was wondering why these people were all carrying flashlights.
