Back in the 60s, John B. Calhoun set up a supposed paradise for mice. They were given unlimited food, water, and never had to deal with predators. At first, the mice thrived. Population boomed. But as it got crowded, things fell apart fast. Mice stopped breeding, mothers abandoned their young, and males became either hyper-aggressive or totally withdrawn. Eventually, the entire colony collapsed.
Calhoun called this "behavioral sink", when comfort and excess lead to social and biological breakdown. A population with no struggle, no purpose, and unlimited pleasure degenerates into chaos. Over time, dominant males became aggressive and started attacking females and the young. Some became exclusively homosexual. Others became pansexual and hypersexual, attempting to mount any mouse they encountered.
The "Beautiful Ones" were the final stage. Mice that did nothing but groom themselves, eat, and avoid conflict. They refused to mate or engage with others and simply waited patiently for their deaths.
