Caged New Kanye song just dropped

Why this lil gringo calls himself ye?
From the lyrics of his unreleased song "Chakras"
>Kanye gave up the West
>Kanye to Yeezy
>Maybe just Ye
>Fuck a slave name, fuck a slave name

For one reason, he thought that at least his surname was a "slave name" ("West" being of English origin). If I recall correctly, Blacks like Malcolm X thought similarly of their birth names before they changed them (Malcolm was originally born "Cassius Clay", for example). Besides that aggravation with his old name, in an interview with the radio host "Big Boy", he explained that his decision to specifically shorten his name to "Ye" was of both a spiritual and a philosophical inspiration; in the 1611 King James Version of the Bible, "ye" (as in, the plural of "thou") is one of the most commonly used words within scripture (thus, he sees some sort of divine significance in the name). Ye expands this significance to a meaning of how, while his previous name had the Swahili meaning of "only one", the shift of his identity to being "ye" (being now plural instead of individual) encompasses his ambition to be a cultural representative for "who we are" (as he says in the interview. This is a phrase which I interpret to mean "the Black race", meaning that "Ye" as a name denotes him to being a reflection of modern Black culture in America).
