Onion bomb will kill him fast. I started with Astolfo and thought it was pretty easy. Then the rest of the bosses become a pushover as long you exploit their weaknesses.

@BBCRightsActivist placed all the E-Tanks behind insta-kill spikes. But if you find a tank you can consistently reach you can pick it up and die right away. Even if you get a game over the tanks will still be in your inventory.
