Caged ITT: We post PSAs so absurd you wouldn't believe they were real

I've recently learnt about the existence of this:

And here's some recent information on the topic:

Pedestrian deaths are declining in other states but still rising in the NT, where every victim last year was Aboriginal

The Northern Territory (NT) has by far the highest rate of pedestrian crashes in Australia. The most recent data shows pedestrians were more than 5 ½ times more likely to die in a crash in the NT than the national average.

And unlike the rest of the country, where pedestrians deaths are decreasing, the NT last year recorded its highest number of pedestrian deaths in a decade. All 12 people killed were Aboriginal.

Government data shows that First Nation's people (Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders) made up about 87% of all pedestrians killed on NT roads since 2012, while representing only 30% of the population.

David Kurnoth, a member of the Larrakia Nation (a community service organisation) stated: «We design shirts every year for visitors who come to town who aren't really aware of the traffic conditions». The idea is that people wearing them anywhere near a road will be more visible to drivers [at night], which will "hopefully save a few lives".

Here's another gem, this time by our fellow Indians:

This music video was part of "Take Poo to the Loo" (shortened to "Poo2Loo"), a UNICEF campaign launched in March 2013, which objective was to reduce public defecation in India.

Now, let's get into some basic recent data.

Screenshot_20250428-161628.webp

According to the WHO and UNICEF, in 2022, around 420 million people in the world were practicing open defecation, and 157 357 965 of those were India inhabitants (about 37.465% of the total).

On the bright side, this number represents a 66% decrease of the Indians who were practicing open defecation in the campaign's launch year, and it's roughly a 79.745% decrease of the numbers registered in 2000.

However, this also means that, in 2022, approximately 11.104% of the Indian population was still defecating outdoors, given that 1 417 173 000 people were living there (as reported by the World Bank).

This implies as well that the number of Indians who were defecating outdoors was larger than the total population of most countries in the world, even in 2022, with the following exceptions:
