Politics Alcohol le good, drugs… le bad!

Can anyone explain why alcohol is acceptable in a religious society but natural resources like weed is prohibited? They are both found in nature, so wouldn’t that mean it was created by God for humans to consume?

In Orthodox tradition, drinking alcohol is acceptable but getting drunk isn't, to give some further context. What is prohibited here is consuming too much of something (can be anything, not just drugs or alcohol) to the point of losing control of yourself. When you are drunk, you are not in control of yourself and can potentially do harmful things you otherwise wouldn't do. So that's why these things are usually forbidden.
