History What is the Orthodox explanation for why the filioque is bad or whatever?

it was not universally agreed by everyone (although it was a dominant opinion) and when catholics added it into the nicene creed they sperged the fuck out
To add onto this, the phrase “and the Son” (filioque) was added to the Nicene Creed by the Western Church without an Ecumenical Council, which the Orthodox view as overstepping proper authority. Changing the Creed disrupts the unity and consensus that the Church was meant to embody.

The pope thought he ruled them and the easterners thought he didn't rule them so they kicked each other out from what I know

Indeed. The Pope in the West claimed universal jurisdiction over the entire Church, while the Eastern bishops, particularly the Patriarch of Constantinople, rejected that idea. They believed authority should be shared among the bishops (a more conciliar model), with no single bishop ruling over all others.

you could argue this but the Filioque helps with the trinity and it’s not against scripture in the slightest so it was rather pointless to split over it as for papal authority I can’t say much because I am a Protestant

Not a theologian but from what I heard it's because
A. the bishop of rome is overstepping his authority by altering the creed
B. By having the spirit proceed from both The Father and The Son, the holy spirit is excluded/lacking, whereas if The Son and the Holy Spirit both proceed from the father it doesn't exclude them but makes the father different
