Been running linux exclusively for 3-4years now and I will not go back to windows especially after seeing what a shitstorm was windows 11 upgarde period. I had to fix about 10 laptops from crashes and awful performance. Not to mention amount cryptojackers I remove every now and then. Windows is just garbage
Linux has been a very stable experience for me and any breaks would get resolved in 5 min unlike windows which most of the time would not give a straight answer of whats wrong. Things on nvidia are a bit messy still as opensource driver is still in production but amd is the best experience I had on pc so far in my life.
On both configurations I had all my games work. All programs I use for work like IDEs and Oracle database work. In fact all development stuff worked great.
I don't have much time to explain stuff but if you are considering switching and you want some guidance, ask in the thread.

my laptop came with wingoys 11 but like half the programs online can't run in it

I am planning to due to privacy concerns because Microsoft can't stop trying to gather intel on my activity and prompting me every other week to upgrade to their shitty Windows 11. I'm just worried about accidentally losing my data.

I prefer Windows over Linux, but the libre software that comes with default installations of mainstream distros makes Linux way more convenient and easy to set up whenever I get a new device

Yeah I run encrypted system with a bunch of security additions and privacy-centric approach. You should check out fedora. If you are good with computers then maybe archolinux
