I discovered this guy through watching his demonic parasite video. He basically says clowns came from the Harlequin archetype/stock character which came from ancient ancestor worship.
 
Wow. I'd have to say, it has me convinced that there's a clear, nasty origin to these circuses. Makes a lot of sense, connects a lot of dots. That common theme of the ritualistic precursor to the clown costumes which they later made the modern clown into reminds me a lot of other shared, international stories among different peoples, most notably the flood stories that many share, from Korea to the Amerindians.
That makes me wonder if the Masons are involved in the creation of circus peanuts, too. Apparently no one knows their origin, from what I've heard. Perhaps only a Mason could make such a peculiar confection.

Drag queens are pretty much modern day clowns.
