Have you noticed how new gen graphics keep getting brighter and washed out? I noticed games after 2014 seem to crank the brightness to 11 while keeping the darks so dim you can’t see the textures as easily.

I've been complaining about this for years. It spread to even remasters, for example I play Skyrim SE sometimes and there's a noticeable difference between the original game and the remaster when you compare even something as simple as the skies. Originally the game looked very dark, the color scale was grey-ish, depressing basically. Which is fitting for the kind of province the game takes place in. But then in the remaster these clowns thought it would be a good idea to make blue skies and sunny weather for a game that wasn't even designed for it because that's what the trend demands, apparently. Luckily there are mods to make the game darker again.

Unreal Engine slop. Look up any new game and there’s a good chance it was made using Unreal.

I've been thinking about this too, glad it's not just me. Everything new seems to be bright and high contrast to the point of being tiring to look at. Usually people conflate being visually obnoxious with "good graphics".
I really noticed this when I saw a red alert 3 mod that tried to replicate CNC generals

>original CNC generals
>old and simple graphics
>washed out color pallet
>limited contrast
>effects like rocket trails are thin and subtle allowing big explosions to stand out

>red alert 3
>high contrast
>bright
>every effect and trail is as obnoxious as possible
>makes me tired just looking at it

>generals 2
>also bright
>also obnoxious

Same for company of heroes franchise (bellow are pictures from COH 1, COH2 and COH3)

But the stupid goyim just eat it up
"oh wow! such graphics!"

Competence in the game development industry is at an all time low

no one cares about modern games anymore though, millennials are getting old and zoomoids don't play anything other than the most popular (aka the sloppest) ones.

I hope the game industry crashes soon and we can have a gaming renaissance. Nintendo games sell tens of millions of copies for a fraction of the cost. High-end graphics don’t mean anything anymore.

Tbh Winterhold and Eastmarch still have that Greyish look you are talking about but yeah the rest of the province don't feel like a Wintery Viking Land.

Because I took the images from this mod page.
They have a point. Nintendo is the king of excessive bloom.

I’ve been thinking they try to make everything bright and happy on purpose because nu-gamers love flashy lights and feeling heckin cozy. Like how modern game stories never take themselves seriously and have to inject sarcasm every five minutes to make sure the player doesn’t feel uncomfortable.

Lawl, yeah, they’re turning every game into a pastel-colored soyjak nightmare. It’s like they can’t help but make everything look like it’s covered in a layer of plastic wrap. Post-2014 graphics feel less like art and more like some corporate AI-generated garbage designed to distract your brain with bright colors while they pump out the same recycled mechanics.

And those shadows? Totally nerfed. Back in the day, dark areas actually felt ominous, like something could jump out at you. Now it’s just dim gray blobs probably because they assume players are too ADHD to handle actual contrast. It's all about style over substance now, lawl. Just wait, next they'll add lens flare to menu screens.

Post on your real account, nigger.

they don't give a fuck about remastering anything they just want to make it look new with bright shit and resell it for 50 more dollars
If gaming wasn’t so mainstream we could’ve all banded together and vote with our wallets. Now we’re the outcasts, outnumbered 100 to 1.
