As a kid , I always went to my father's place on the weekends (divorced parents).

My father was and still living with his mum btw in the same council estate house; he only works part time has a cleaner

It was like living a decade or two behind the present, because they had no internet until 2020.

So all there was to do was walk, dvd, tv, nintendo ds, or cds or just chill out.

They used newspapers (still do) and radio.

All the bullshit of the internet was non existent and everything felt more real and grounded.

They do have internet now, but only use it for jewtube

watching tv was shit, but good in a strange way; no worry about what to watch, and just watch what you get, and end up watching shit you wouldn't normally watch if you had unlimited choice

He was a solider in the late 90s and was in the falklands.

He also patrolled in some border around burma or somthing
