media in genERal these days is all about "more is better"

Just add new this and new that to make the game "bigger" for "justifying" charging over £60 for it

More maps, flashy colours, more power ups, more characters etc etc

The games just suffer from it tbh and its lazy game design

It works in terraria but not every game needs a million items, guests and collectibles

Problem is that gaming got mainstream. Before you would buy an 8 hour game at full price and no one complained so long as it was a quality experience. Not to mention it takes 5+ years to develop a game because devs need to appease their corporate masters.
