Rant "Historian" bitch denounces the Crusades.

Well she strongly implied that the muslim arab invaders were simply just "retaking" jerusalem from the Christians and not conquering it.
they retook Jerusalem because they already took it before the crusades, at least that's how I understood it, you're being pretty pedantic

One of the reason why the crusades happened in the first place is because they where retaking the lost christian lands back from muslims.
the crusades was absolutely justified.

she is right

we're talking past each other, I never disputed that, I just said it doesn't seem like she's denouncing the crusades because she said "retook" as opposed to "reconquered"

Were they? Then answer the following questions, if the crusades were only defensive and definitely not done with any material motivations, then why did the crusaders:

1. Sack the Croatian Catholic city of Zara in 1202 just to loot its riches?
2. Sack Orthodox Constantinople in 1204, loot all the religious relics in it (indeed, there wasn't much left for the Ottoman Turks to take from the city in 1453 because the crusaders looted everything already) establish a heretical latin empire and rule from there until 1261? This was endorsed by the pope.
3. Moreover, why did the Latin Empire immediately attack Christian Bulgaria after its establishment?
4. Why did the northern crusaders attack Orthodox Russia with the pope's blessing?
5. Why were the crusaders disliked by the native Orthodox population in the Holy Lands? Why did they treat them like second class citizens?
6. Any thoughts on the cannibalism committed by crusaders during the siege of Ma'arra?

3. Moreover, why did the Latin Empire immediately attack Christian Bulgaria after its establishment?
They did it to secure Thrace and neutralizing Bulgaria was necessary to stabilize their rule against potential threats from multiple fronts. If they looked weak it would’ve invited attacks.
