Gnosticism

It's funny to see normie NPCs who think they're cool by hating on mainstream Christianity and saying Gnosticism is LE BETTER on Youtube, and gnosticism is retarded. Though since I don't just want to make a thread without any actual statements I'd like to debunk 3 common misconceptions about gnosticism in this text.

Misconception (or myth) #1: Gnosticism was more inclusive and open-minded than the orthodox christians of the time and they respected da wimminz

Well no, gnostics didn't really like women and they were pretty elitist. They literally regarded salvation as something for the "spiritually elite" and "awakened." And the Gospel of Thomas quite literally states:
(114) Simon Peter said to him, "Let Mary leave us, for women are not worthy of life."Jesus said, "I myself shall lead her in order to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every woman who will make herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven."
"Woe to you who love intimacy with womankind and polluted intercourse with them! Woe to you in the grip of the powers of your body, for they will afflict you!.."
That does not seem very wimmin respecting to me, in fact The Valentinian Gnostic Marcus was actually known for bringing women into the movement so that he could sexually seduce them.

Misconception (or myth) #2: Gnosticism was just as common as orthodox christianity before the evil christians destroyed the poor gnostics with the help of Constantine

Well I feel like the fact gnostic manuscripts are less common than normal manuscripts by a few orders of magnitude speaks volumes about this.

Misconception (or myth) #3: "Gnosticism" is a sect

"Gnosticism" is not a thing. Even the "proto-typical" Gnostic myth (about how the demiurge did this and that and what not) was fabricated by modern scholars by lifting ideas found in diverse sources from completely different sects. It did not exist in that form in any ancient sect. None at all. The notions that were combined did exist, but the whole myth never existed.

My conclusion:

The Gnostic schools lost because they were retards who had retarded theology
