completely anecdotal but i was literally unable to learn spanish in high school. like it just never clicked in my head, from remembering words to sentence structure to even basic syntax.
however i started watching some movies in german (with english subs) and its seemingly far easier, and when i watched german youtube vids i could kinda jerryrig sentences via what i knew (i was actually retaining stuff) and cognates. plus german sounds a lot cooler, its not pleasant but it has an "industrial" kind of tone to it. spanish is hideous and rapes my ears

german is actually appealing to most people because its a nice language to read and listen
most people won't bother with some language being drilled into your head because government zogbots want you to communicate with your local latinx drug dealers
i guess who has an interest in romance languages will have more will to learn it, but even then they'll learn either the neutral or spaniard dialect of it, maybe argie if they're football-obsessed zoomies
