CDC also states that of MSM in 20 major U.S. cities in 2011, nearly 1 in 5 MSM are infected with HIV at that moment.
Between 2008-2010 HIV cases among MSM increased 12%, while for heterosexual women, HIV cases decreased 18% and for heterosexual men there was no change

The risk of HIV through unprotected male homosexual intercourse is seen to be extremely high, as much 18 times greater than unprotected vaginal intercourse.
In fact when protection is used this gap only rises since condoms have been shown to have 80% efficiency in heterosexuals as opposed to 70% in male homosexuals

Homosexual men have a high prevalence of child sexual abuse (CSA) in the United States, and it is suggested that CSA history is a risk factor for HIV infection in men who have sex with men (MSM). 27.3% of homosexual men reported a CSA history. Meta-analysis indicated that MSM with CSA history were more likely to be HIV positive and to engage in recent unprotected anal intercourse. They were also more likely to report frequent casual male partners, substance use, and sex while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

Anal sex is extremely dangerous as the female body can comprehend certain signals emitted by "immuno-regulatory macromolecules" found in seminal fluid. These signals allow for the intimate union necessary for human reproduction in the vagina. However, when these signals are received in other areas, i.e, the anus, they are not properly interpreted and can lead to the fusion of sperm with somatic body cells. This fusion often leads to the formation of cancerous malignancies:
