Agreed. In my family's attic we have a Norwegian Bible from around 1900 that one of my great grandfathers possessed (he was a Methodist minister) and we've never been able to closely inspect it because it's on the verge of falling apart every time we look at it.

The oldest Bible we have in my house is at least 20 years old. Funnily enough it's an Evangelical translation (Almeida ofc) despite my mom being deeply Catholic. It's way too bent and rugged. I bought one last year and everyone would tell me it looks great. Pic related.

Younger me has to diy some tape over it when I was 6 so it looks horrible but I managed to save it paper is alright but the cover is horrible

must really be utterly obliterated for it to crumble just due to a stare

evangelists hold a good presence in those parts rarely enough
i did have an evangelist one too but i never even opened it
