Music/Television “They Live” I can’t decide if this was a good movie or not

In case you don’t recognize the name, They Live is the movie where this meme came from.

In this world, aliens have disguised themselves as humans and are part of the elite class that rule over society. The only way to see them is with a pair of sunglasses made in a lab. I thought the premise sounded like an allegory for the Illuminati, so my expectations were high.

Thing is, this movie was decent for half the runtime. The middle chunk of the film is full of cheesy one liners like the Reddit phrase “I’m here to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And I’m all out of bubblegum.” It was more of a cheesy action flick than a deep analysis about how controlled society is. I liked the concept of the movie and the alien designs are creepy, but it could’ve been so much more.

yeah cause it dropped redpills

I like it, even doe the chuds who wrote it were a little on the nose with the whole jew analogy and early-life glasses, if you can get past the lack of subtlety in their anti semitism it's a very jolly movie

Was it even about Jews? John Carpenter told everyone who associated the film with antisemitism to fuck off.

Never once did they say they were aliens...
Wtf are you talking about..
“I’m here to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And I’m all out of bubblegum.”
Is top tier sigma male.

The only gay part in the entire movie is the fact the Vatican always puts their gay ass catholic priests in as the good guys for their predictive programming... preacher character is awesome, certainly never going to be a catholic being anti-system though. The gay ass outfit always a father / priest..

I share similar thoughts. To me, the acting wasn’t up to par, and the soundtrack was repetitive.

If you’re looking for similar movies, I’d highly recommend Soylent Green if you haven’t seen it yet.
Acting is fantastic.

Soylent Green is a good one, more predictive programming. They've already found human DNA in fast food meat. A few of my favorite anti-system / anti-conformity / pro-creativity movies..

  • Equilibrium
  • A Boy and His Dog
  • Brazil
  • Logan's Run
  • Pan's Labyrinth
  • Blade Runner (1982)
  • Quarantine (1989)
  • Starship Troopers 1, 2, and 3
  • The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
  • The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
  • THX 1138
  • Anon
  • Captive State
  • The Island
  • Children of Men
  • What Happened To Monday
  • Idiocracy
  • A.I. Artificial Intelligence
  • Aeon Flux
  • Land of the Dead
  • Fahrenheit 451
  • Beyond the Reset

Nice. Blade Runner is another classic I need to get around to watching.

Not the new one, new one sucks dick compared to the old one. A trend among most good movies is they all stem from books.. what I noticed after I started writing my own, now I do a search and sure as shit 99% of the best movies stem from books.

FALSE!
John Carpenter called them "ghouls", the guy who wrote and directed the movie.
Do you have the source because all I found was this on the wiki:
“The Fascinators, also known as ‘ghouls’, are a strange race of sapient humanoid aliens. Their true name is unknown.”

Wikipedia is for Reddit normies.
The movie only says they want the resources, never they are from another planet...

He also refers to them as zombies or the living dead as well, but mostly ghouls.
